This is the editor's own beat-up copy of Thomas Bailey Aldrich's "Story of a Bad Boy." In this Riverside Book edition from 1923 (originally published 1869), we see a mischievous Tom Bailey escaping from his house past what is clearly a Portsmouth doorway.
