Endeavour at the State Pier
Meeting the Endeavour

We got a VIP ride in this brand new wave piercing catamaran courtesy of New England Water Taxi. We zipped out of the harbor at 8:30 am to rendezvous with the Endeavour which was sailing near the Nubble Light in York, Maine.

The first view of the tall ship on the horizon is like a trip
through a time machine. Our catamaran was doing 30 knots. The 19th
century Endeavour hit top speeds of 6 knots.

This amazing replica of Captain Cook's ship of discovery was built in Australia for $17 million over a 7 year period. Now, amazingly, it
loomed above us near the mouth of the Piscataqua River.

Getting aboard was like docking in space. The modern catamaran came within a foot of the wooden ship, and wearing life jackets, the 10 VIPs climbed into the Endeavour while at sea.
