HMS Bounty Visits Portsmouth, NH
July 14-21, 1999
The tall ship from the film "Mutiny on the Bounty"
SEE: How we almost missed the Bounty
SEE: Other ship visits in THE SHIPYARD
The reconstructed movie ship HMS Bounty was way off course from Hollywood and history when it arrived in Portsmouth, NH. But no one seemed to mind the lack of historic connection. A seaport is, after all, a seaport, and every tall ship is a welcome reminder of Portsmouth's maritime heritage. The scaled up ship was used in the popular film starring Marlon Brando (see links below). The visit was sponsored by the Portsmouth Maritime Commission. We headed out to meet her, but had a little engine trouble, the results of which you can see in our Disposable Camera Tour. Ahoy Cap'n Blight! --- JDR
