This is where we locals eat. This is Petey's sign just across from the beach area at Rye. It's not fine art, but it means fine-eatin' seafood, including the best darned take-out fish chowder we've found in the Seacoast. And we are VERY choosey about chowda. Don't know why, but few local restaurants can make a really good milk-based chowder with lots of fish and no frills, just the way Grampa made it. Petey knows how. ![]() This is where we eat when we go for Petey's take-out. There's a bar and a dining room, but we prefer the outdoors. Owner Peter Aikens Jr. is a local and started running Petey's up at Foye's corner soon after high school. He moved to this site at what used to be the Harbormaster Restaurant. recently and the crowds have rediscovered his great seafood. and always Essex clams from Ipswich.. Peter also owns Petey's Red Roof Market just up the road, not to mention the Atlantic Fourwinds Efficnies nearby. He works 18-hour days all summer and we plan to make him work harder by stopping by often.
