A dozen penny postcards of
the picturesque Phillips Exeter

PEA Academy Bldg. Downtown Exeter, New Hampshire is as charming today as it was at the turn of the century when a postcard home required only a one cent stamp. Sprawled along the lazy Exeter River, the short strip of shops leads you past the bandstand up Main Street which runs through the center of the campus of "The Academy."

When these early postcards were created, Phillips Exeter was already more than 100 years old, its alumni including Daniel Webster and Robert Todd Lincoln. Founded in 1781, PEA remains one of the most prestigious secondary schools with students attending from around the world.
