There are a few critical vehicles on the island which has run summer conferences since the late 1800s. Here is the spiffy fleet of vehicles. Anyone seen my wrench? The back of the building also hides the tower where sea water is pumped up many stories and used to flush toilets. (Click to see Old Joe on Appledore)

Tony talks with his top and only island electrician. There are three generators in a small noisy shed near the hotel. All electricity on the island comes from them.

Here's a view of the scenic Gosport Church you may have missed. Climbing up hill from the generator shed, a small group of maintenance-groupies gets the backyard tour. (See scenic view of same shot by Peter Randall).

With the famous Tuck Monument in the background, Tony points out the location of the oil storage tanks. It takes two trips with a 10,000 gallon tanker from Portland, ME to keep the generators running all summer.
