Wagner accuses Maren Hontvet
Read Text Version

Wagner's latest dodge is to accuse poor Mrs. Hontvet of the murder of
the two girls at the Isles of Shoals. He also says that $500 was
expended by Mr. Hontvet, a man of very limited means-for witnesses to
testify against him. It is considered more than probable that all the
objections and exceptions will be overruled and that the convicted
murderer will not get a new trial. The stories that he is looking very
"tain and is failing in health are untrue. He never looked better, and
is in fine spirits. He is confined in the upper corridor of the jail,
and converses freely about the murder with all who are permitted to see
him. What a precious villain!
