Mrs. Eleanor Parke Lewis (Nelly Custis)
Adoped grand-daughter of the Washington's

Nelly was one of four children of Martha's son "Jackey" Custis (from her first marriage) who died young. She was part of the Washington household (see Edward Savage painting on main page) when Lear was for a time her tutor. He also arranged her schooling.
