The Woodman Institute is a amazing "museum within a museum" created in the early 20th century and almost unchanged to this day. Set on a campus with the state's oldest surviving garrison and the Hale House,
this 1818 brick mansion is filled with an amazing natural history
collection, prehistoric artifacts, military museum, dolls and more - a
wonderful visit for children as it has been for nearly a century.
