Portsmouth Then & NowConnie and Bill Warren are Portsmouth, NH residents. Connie grew up in the 1940s and 50s in New Castle and attended Portsmouth schools. They met when Bill, born in Macon, GA and educated in Australia, was a summer resident of North Hampton, NH during the same era. As local historians they have gathered a large collection of picture postcards, photographs, maps, and artifacts. Many of their items were from the Sweetser collection and donated to the Special Collections Department of the Diamond Library at the University of New Hampshire. They have loaned numerous photographs and artifacts concerning William Lowell Hill, Interim Congressional Medal of Honor recipient) to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard 1905 Russia-Japan Peace Treaty Room and Museum. Their old photos and postcards have appeared in "The Seacoast of New Hampshire," by Robert C. Gilmore and Bruce E. Ingmire, and in the Portsmouth Herald. Their book is available from ARCADIA Publishing.
